The weather did not seem to deter the Christmas Spirit at our party in the barn, almost all of those who intended to arrive did so despite heavy snow earlier. The smell of warm garlic bread met our noses and wetted our appetites and after an excellent buffet we were in fine fettle for energetic games.
Musical chairs brought out the competitive spirit and our chairman, always a willing participant demonstrated his prowess at ‘bowling the potato’. A certain gentleman from Trawden gamely acted as a hoopla Rudolph and was not deterred by some off side shots – a good example of sportsmanship!
Some people –our treasurer – may have been mightily disappointed when they failed to hit the nearest the bottle with their pound coins. The winner of the Christmas quiz would have been sure to know how many pipers were piping.
Finally we quietened down and the evening finished with the singing of traditional carols. Thanks again to Mike and Georgina and Pam, for a very enjoyable evening.
